Pericope: Philippians 4: 11 – 13
11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned
to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to
be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned
the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether
well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do
all this through him who gives me strength.
Sermon Text: Phil 4: 11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I
have learned, in whatsoever state I am, there with to be content.

Move 1: Contentment is Difficult. Phil, 4:11 11 I am not saying
this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content
whatever the circumstances
Move 2: Contentment and Prosperity R Connected. Proverbs
15: 16 Better is little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure
and trouble therewith.
Hebrews 13: 5 Let your conversation be without covetousness;
and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will
never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Biblical examples. (1) 2 Kings 4: 42 – 44…20 loaves of barley,
100 men…enough was established at 100 then more than kicked
in. (2) John 6: 1 – 14 Philip established 200 pennyworth/eight
months of wages wasn’t enough to feed 5,000…Jesus
established 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread was enough then after
they were fed more than enough kicked in.
Move 3: PMP Prosperity Must Have Purpose. 11 I am not
saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content
whatever the circumstances.
Ecclesiastes 5: 10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with
silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also
vanity.
Celebration:
1. You become content and prosperous at the same time by
living according to Paul’s words. 1 Tim. 6: 6 But godliness with contentment is
great gain
a. FormulaL L+ gC = GG. Great gain comes as a result of
contentment. Contentment=great gain not the other way
around.
b. The problem to be solved lack/not enough – the answer
great gain – the equation godliness + contentment = great
gain.
2. The Secret: Philippians 4:12 12 I know what it is to be in need,
and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret
of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or
hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
