Pericope: John 14:1-7 - “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe
in God; [a] believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many
rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare
a place for you? [b] 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will
come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may
be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” [c] 5 Thomas
said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can
we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the
truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father
also. [d] From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Sermon Text: John 14:5 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not

Sermon Title: Which Way
In our text, Thomas speaks up on behalf of all of us. He
asked Jesus. Vs. 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know
where you are going. How can we know the way?”
Point 1. A way of life – vs 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, …
a) Prayer – vs. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do,
that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
b) Prepare for storms in life – Matthew 14:29 29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water
and came toward Jesus. Matthew 8:23-26 - 23 Then he got
into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a
furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept
over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went
and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to
drown!” 26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so
afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the
waves, and it was completely calm.
c) He taught them how to serve others – Luke 10:27 27 He
answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your
mind’ [a] ; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ [b] ”… 29 But he
wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my
neighbor?”
d) He taught them how to study the word in verse 15 “If you
love me, you will keep my commandments.
Point 2: A secure way verse 18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I
will come to you
Point 3: A prepared place, Vs 2 In my Father's house are many
rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare
a place for you?
